This chipless RFID system uses back scatter technology that employs high frequency RFID scanner. This system is cheaper, smaller and faster as well.

Two types of tags are usually seen in real. They differ from each other according to their charging process. The active tags are usually powered by the internal battery and the passive tags are powered by the reader while the scanning process is held.

RFID reader is the main part of RFID scanner. The device is used to collect data from the tags with the help of radio waves. The reader spots the radio wave of a certain frequency on the product tag that has to be scanned. Then the reader collects the data from the barcodes by wireless medium with the help of radio waves. Being wireless means that there is no need of direct contact between the tags and reader.

With the vast use of RFID scanner and RFID tags the use of laser barcode scanner has lessened rustically. If the RFID system is standardized, then it may allow the effective communication between devices which is better than barcodes and laser barcodes scanners. The price of these scanners vary from 35$ to 2800$ approximately.
